- Letter from Mr Griffin

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow is a Bank Holiday to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day. Sir Winston Churchill's famous speech to signal the end of the Second World praises the British people's resolve, bravery and team work:

"God bless you all. This is your victory! It is the victory of the cause of freedom in every land. In all our long history we have never seen a greater day than this. Everyone, man or woman, has done their best. Everyone has tried. Neither the long years, nor the dangers, nor the fierce attacks of the enemy, have in any way weakened the independent resolve of the British nation. God bless you all."

It has been lovely to see the range of activities happening in your families to celebrate and remember VE day. Keep posting these onto the class platforms for your teachers to see.

Last week, May Day was unable to go ahead however the year one and two children were given the challenge to create a poster to remind us of this important annual occasion. Mrs Towler has added some of the entries which you can find later on in the newsletter.

I would like to end just by reiterating my thanks and gratitude to all the families for continuing to work incredibly hard during this difficult time to support your children with their learning.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mr Griffin

- FSU

The FSU children have continued with their farm topic this week as well as learning about VE day. They listened to two stories about Felix the fast tractor and then had a go at writing their own stories about Felix...We were very impressed by the children's efforts. Here are just a few examples sent in from Beau, Emily and Oliver.

It was lovely to see Oliver taking part in the sockfest activity for this fortnight as well. Well done Oliver!
Look at Lois reading to her teddies! Lois has also been very busy while at home practising her writing. Keep up the good work Lois!

Lily went on a tractor hunt at her Nanny's farm and found an amazing selection of old and new tractors.

- Yr1/2

Last week, May Day was unable to go ahead however the year one and two children were given the challenge to create a poster to remind us of this important annual occasion.

The contributors are: Isla with her beautiful May Day Story, Ben, Amelia, Brody, Henry & Orla.

Below are a few photos of some of the things Eliza in FSU has been up to in confinement.

* She collected all the red things she could find and made a piece of performance art
* Making a camp fire using local firewood and then cooking sausages, potatoes, corn and chocolatey bananas
* Creating a musical instrument using rocks and a wooden frame with the help of her Mamie (Nan).

- Yr 3/4

This week not only have the children in Y3/4 been learning about weather, they have also been reading about the cloud-men in James and The Giant Peach. The children have thought hard about inventing their own weather machine and the types of jobs the cloud-men would get up to.

The contributors are: Emily, Kit, Neive, Beatrice & Ruby.

- Yr 5/6

More great work from Wilf, Hope, Emily, Charlie & Hannah. We also have Emilia riding her bike, well done everyone!
