“It is my last Newsletter as the interim Head and I would like to thank you, the parents, for your support. I also would like to thank all the members of staff for their incredible work during this challenging but rewarding time.
During this time, there have been improvements not only to the school grounds and the resources available to the children (thanks to the PTA) but also the continuing professional development of the teaching staff through the support of the local authority.
I am looking forward to handing the reins to Mr Griffin who will, without a doubt, bring the school towards even better results in all areas.”

The children were amazing and we were really impressed by their singing/acting and we would like to congratulate them all for their hard work. We also would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Roberts who was director/producer and programme writer. We couldn't have done this without you. And let's not forget Ms Murphy, Mrs Vickers, Mrs Pike & Mrs Caple for their amazing costumes, props and scenery, Mr Walters for building the set, Mrs Walters and Ms Buckley for their help backstage. And we are not forgetting the PTA for providing the refreshements and raffle ticket for both performances. We raised a staggering £218.42! Thank you to you all.
- FSU fundraising
Thanks for all your toy donations, the FSU raised £230.19 which is an incredible amount. Thank you to Paige Cooke and her helpers for organising all the toys and make it such a success and to Mrs Ling for baking her amazing Maltesers' cake.
- Celebration Service at St Mary
It was a very nice service at St Mary's church this morning and the children were rewarded for their hard work this year as follows:
- Yr 3/4 = Certificate for completing their Prince William Awards with Skill Force (Mrs Jeffery)
- Yr6s Young leaders:
Edwin, Honey, Sean, Jack, Lily, Bethany, Libbi, Caitlin, Sebastian and Rhys.
- The School Councillors received their certificates:
Henry, Neive, Stanley, Willow, Hope, Wilf and Sean
- Children who have 100 % attendance are:
Emilia F, Emily F, Honey and Edward.
-Children who have above 99% are:
Ella, Samuel, Ben, Ruby, Max, Willow, Zachary, Kara, Oliver and Rhys.
Well done to all of you.
- Most improved readers are : Estelle, Jacob, Emily and Wilf.

Wilf read a poem to all this year's Leavers (other than Yr6s): Cyril, Miles, Jasmine, Max, George, Matilda, Isobel W and Theo. Good luck at your new Schools.
- Silver status Games Mark
The school has achieved Silver Status Games Mark for this academic year. This is due to our commitments in getting the children active and participation in competitions.
- Brass Concert
The concert was a real success and the children were absolutely fantastic.
Attendance for this week is 98.15%.

- PTA News
Who can believe it’s almost the end of another school year, where does the time go? The PTA would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last year and helped to raise money for the school. Through the different events and fund-raising initiatives, we have raised over £5000 this year which for a small school is an amazing amount.
In consultation with the teachers this year alone we have been able to subsidise school trips, buy much needed resources for the school such as new Science, Maths and English equipment which the children are already using and benefiting from. Each year group was given some money to buy something that could benefit them straight away and support projects they were working on. New picnic benches have been purchased and a bench outside the front. These are just some of the ways the money raised has been spent. The committee feel money should not be sitting in a bank account but used immediately so our children are benefitting straight away.
Over the summer holidays we will continue to look for ways to raise money, through grants etc. Please don’t forget to use Easy Fundraising and Amazon Smile when making internet purchases. We applied back in February for the Tesco Bags scheme so hopefully we will hear soon if we’ve been successful, look out in Bicester Tesco to see if Charlton’s project is on the box, fingers crossed.
Many of the banks and building societies are offering match funding for charities, if you work for a bank perhaps you would be able to find out more about your employers’ schemes and let us know via email.
Over the summer if you’re having a clear out, please put any clothes to one side as Rags to Riches are booked to come again early next term.
Any good condition uniform can be left at the office.

We will organise a demonstration of wind and string instruments in September so keep your eyes peeled on the school calendar for a date!

I hope this email finds you well.
My name is Lily and I’m writing from a London based TV Production Company called Lion TV; creators of popular shows like Horrible Histories, Officially Amazing and Inside the Tower of London.
I just wanted to get in touch because we have just had our exciting new TV series ‘Play Your Pets Right’ recommissioned for Sky Kids – a comedy entertainment show in which the nation's pets and their owners battle it out in hilarious games that test their speed, agility, reaction time and focus, and we are currently on the hunt for children and their pets to take part over the summer.
At the moment, we are currently looking for talented animals of all types, shapes and sizes so are encouraging those with even the most unusual pets to get in touch – we are looking for everything from Bearded Dragons, Tortoises, Geckos, Rabbits, Rats / Mice / Gerbils / Hamsters, to Guinea Pigs, Kittens, Dogs, Chinchillas and Goats.
We would love to hear from children at your school, who would be interested in this opportunity. So it would be great if you could forward them the flyer and application form attached in any way which is easiest i.e. newsletter, email, mailing list, or social media etc. We are encouraging all schools to get the flyer out as soon as possible as we will be filming very soon and I know the term is coming to an end shortly.
We think this is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to show off how brilliant their pets are! And hopefully it will be an extremely fun experience for them too.

* Thames Valley Police Open Day
This year’s Thames Valley Police Open Day will be taking place between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 10 August and will be hosted at the force’s training centre in Sulhamstead.
We have over 50 exhibitors attending to showcase their work and contribution to policing, these include our Roads Policing Unit, Forensic Investigations Unit, Contact Management team and Specialist Operations teams. The force museum will also be celebrating its return to the Sulhamstead, and will be open all day for you to discover the force’s history and stop by the shop.
We have displays from our dogs section, our local search and rescue dogs and our public order team who have a new twist in store this year. The force helicopter will be dropping by with an opportunity for you to meet the pilots and grab a photo.
If you want to learn more about the force and some of the roles we undertake visit one of our exciting talks taking place throughout the day.
The fancy dress competition will be returning for its third year, and children can come dressed in their best police themed costume to be in a chance of winning a fantastic prize.
This year, we also have a scavenger hunt for you to get involved in, which will see you take a trip round our stalls to follow the clues and bring out your inner detective.
Key information to note
- Car parking is available of first come, first served basis.
- Assistance dogs are permitted to the event, other visitors with dogs will be turned away and dogs must not be left in vehicles.
- Bag searches will be taking place upon entrance to the event.
- Entrance to the site is free and last entry will be 3.30pm for a 4pm close.
- Seating on site is limited, so please feel free to bring picnic blankets with you.
