Dear Parents,
This week the year 1/2 children visited the Cotswold Wildlife Park; for many children, this was their first educational visit and it was so lovely to hear all about the surprise train trip and the amazing experiences encountered. We are planning an exciting year 3/4 trip before the end of term; more information will be sent out next week! For those children in year 5 and 6, Miss Phillips will be leading a residential meeting next Thursday at 3.15 during which you will find out all about the exciting events planned. If you can't make this meeting, please let the office know so that information can be sent out separately. Finally, I would like to remind all families that Sports Day this year is on Friday 8th July starting at 1pm.

Eco–Council News
This week some of the eco-warriors visited the office to talk to Amanda Giles about our energy bills. Our energy monitors have been spot checking lights left on since February, and were pleased to learn the electric bills showed a reduction in kilowatt usage during this time. Next Tuesday we will be having an Energy Awareness Day. We are working hard to complete the tasks to apply for The Eco-Schools Green Flag Award.

The PTA will be selling ice-lollies after school today in the playground. Please remember to bring some small change if you would like to buy one.
Key Dates for your diary
22nd June: Rags to Riches Collection. Please fill a bag with your unwanted clothes and bring it to school. All clothes collected are currently going to the Ukraine.
23rd June: Hill End Parent Information meeting at 3.15.
8th July: School sports day, Charlton School Field.
9th July: Summer fete 2-4pm, Charlton School Field.
13th-15th July: Year 5/6 pupils. Hill End Camp residential trip.

Year 5/6 on a Friday
Children will need to come into school in their PE kit on these days.

Explorers
In FSU this week we have so much fun recreating the story of The Three Little Pigs. We have built lots of houses from straw, sticks and bricks. The Reception children absolutely stunned us with their extensive story writing of their own version of the tale!
Pathfinders
What a fantastic day we had at the Cotswold Wildlife Park! It was a lovely sunny day and we saw so many amazing animals. Some of our favourites were the meerkats, the rhinos and the wolves. We chatted about whether they were carnivores, herbivores, predators or prey. Then we enjoyed having a snack in the shade whilst we watched the giraffes. In the afternoon, Miss Airey played a trick! We were surprised to find out we were going on the train! It was so much fun and we waved at lots of people. On the way home we were so tired from all our fun that lots of us had a sleep! What an amazing day! Well done for all your amazing behaviour Year 1 and 2.
Adventurers
Year 3 and 4 began their new science topic all about sound. We began by watching some amazing music performances from the group ‘stomp’. We saw them make amazing music by using everyday objects such as dustbin lids, brooms, chairs and basketballs. We investigated how everyday objects make sound and how we have to use them to create different sounds at different volumes. We discovered that a paintbrush can make a loud banging sound when it is hit against a hard surface. However, it can also make a soft brushing sound when you rub the brush end on a smooth surface.
Navigators
This week, Year 5 have been using numicon boards to explore the relationship between fractions, percentages and decimals. They have really enjoyed investigating using physical resources. Well done, Year 5!
The children really enjoyed making homemade pizzas and crispy cakes in CAST this week.
