Welcome to Charlton-on-Otmoor School Eco-Council

Charlton-on-Otmoor Primary School Eco-Council

A new Eco-Council is elected for each academic year. In September the children are asked if they would like to represent their year group by becoming an Eco-Warrior. Following manifestoes being pledged and voting taking place, an Eco-Council of eight children was formed.

These Eco-Warriors are currently leading the school through the process needed to gain an Eco Schools Green Flag Award. To gain the accreditation ten steps have to be carried out by the school. These raise awareness of many eco issues and encourage the children at Charlton-on-Otmoor Primary School to become informed citizens, to care and understand their planet.

Step 1 was to form an Eco committee, step 2 to carry out an Environmental Review and step 3 is to formulate an Action Plan to address the three lowest scoring topics. An Action Plan of activities to raise awareness is currently being planned. More information on the process can be found on the Eco schools website www.eco-schools.org.UK

We will keep you informed of our progress.
